Netflix started its operations in India in January, 2016 and since then it is trying very hard to get a foothold of Indian OTT market which as per the latest report by The Boston Consulting Group is expected to touch $5 Billion in year 2023.
Although, Netflix doesn’t reveal their subscribers base country wise but it is estimated that they have almost 2 million paid subscribes in India. To lure more consumers Netflix is trying a lot of things and one of them is bringing the Hindi interface to its mobile, TV, and web platforms.
Which means you can access anything like search, sign up, making payments, looking collections and whatever you read while browsing in Hindi and more good news is Hindi interface will also be available for users outside India.
Monika Shergill, VP-Content, Netflix India said “Delivering a great Netflix experience is as important to us as creating great content. We believe the new user interface will make Netflix even more accessible and better suit members who prefer Hindi,”
This is part of Netflix’s effort to make it more suitable for Indian audiences. Netflix is also investing heavily in creating its original Indian content by hiring local talent and local companies. It has already announced a lineup of 17 new titles to woo India audiences.
The efforts prove that Netflix is taking India very seriously and till now their growth is impressive. Only time will tell that they will reap the fruits of their effort or not.
