Now You Can Pay Using Apple Pay on London Underground, Buses & Trams

Already available on several transportation systems in US cities such as New York, Portland and at Japan and China, this will make it a lot simpler to use your Apple watch or iPhone to cover your travels.

Though Apple Watch and iPhone users have managed to use their devices for about four decades, users have needed to “pre-arm” their phone first inducing many to abandon the fear of inducing in long queues.

It will be accessible from Monday 2nd December.

Express Mode for Apple Pay will operate on all TfL providers such as the Underground, buses and trams.

More useful for late night travellers in London is that the machine does not require power supply to be around and will operate as many as five hours following standby power. However that specific feature is only going to operate on iPhone XS or even Apple Watch Series 4 models and later.

The brand new Express Mode feature will operate on iPhone SE, iPhone 6s, or iPhone 6s Plus or after and for many Apple Watch versions after Series 1. You will have to update to the latest version of iOS in order to use this feature.

Express Mode, known as Express Transit in the United States, you can enable it through the Wallet & Apple Pay settings.
