Everything about smartphones is great. They make our life so much easier and convenient. These days high-end smartphones can be as good as buying a laptop to cater your needs. The only drawback with smartphones is the limited battery life which an be painful at times.
But as the technology grew, the fast charging technology was developed and it went thorough series of breakthrough to improve the technology.
One more breakthrough on the horizon is by Qualcomm. The San Diego, California based company just announced yesterday that they have developed the fastest charging solution for commercial purposes. Its been named Qualcomm Quick charge 5.
It supports power of over 100W and Qualcomm claim’s that it can charge your phone from 0% to 50% in just 5 minutes.
According to the claims made by Qualcomm, QC5 technology can fully charge a 4000 mAh battery in just 15 minutes which is 5 minutes more than the time claimed by its closest rival Oppo, with its 125W fast charger.
Previously tech company focused more on driving more current though battery cells, but now the focus is moved towards the increase of voltage. Quick charge 5 brings 10 times more power delivery to your battery compared to Quick charge 1 and also charges it 4 times faster then its predecessor.
While being impressed, you must be wondering is that kind of super fast charging is healthy for my battery? The answer is yes as Qualcomm has confirmed that Quick Charge 5 will give industry standard life cycle 500 to 800 recharges.
Oppo has licensed its fast charging tech to 23 companies and Qualcomm also has a roaster of companies which can be leveraged.
Qualcomm is ready to make a blast in the fast charging space, but will it be able to beat Oppo, in the game invented by it, will be very interesting to observe.
