Super Mario Bros is undoubtedly one of the most popular video games of all time. For 90s kids and teenagers it was one of the few options to choose from.
The game has many different versions and has evolved a lot over the years, but the original version of the game still holds up and has a cult following.
Recently, 1985 US version of the game got sold for $114,000 dollars to an anonymous bidder at Heritage Auctions. This is higher than the previous biggest bid for another Super Mario Bros version which was about $100,150 dollars.
According to Chris Kohler, a renowned journalist and game collector based in California, this is the most expensive game ever sold. When converted into Indian rupees the winning amount becomes more than 85,72,287.
Part of the many reasons this game was considered so collectable is said to be rating of 9.4 out of 10 which is considered a fantastic rating within the game collection community.
The game was available in its original packing, a cardboard hang tab which is considered very rare.
As I mentioned earlier, Super Mario Bros was not only a fan favorite but also played a massive role in reliving the gaming industry from its worst times.
