Spotify is entering the podcast space. Earlier today Spotify announced that it will now support podcast on both the mobile desktop versions. The news is coming a little over a month after Spotify inked a $100 million dollars deal with the “Joe Rogan experience” to make it Spotify exclusive.
Reportedly, the Swedish company is heavily investing in the podcast space to ink deals and create a whole ecosystem. According to experts this move by Spotify can also give a tough competition to Apple Podcasts.
Spotify podcasts can be accessed by both its free and paid users just by clicking on the play button within the mobile or desktop.
Spotify is entering in the new market at a time own its traditional music industry seems to be slowing down. Jumping into the podcast space can be a very good move financially.
As evident already when The ‘Joe Rogan Experience” deal inking news came out the market capitalization of Spotify zoomed $1.7 Billion in just 23 minutes.
Video Podcast will immediately sync with your feed and if you quit Spotify while watching a podcast, the audio will continue playing with very minimal data usage.
Admittedly, you might not have the access to all the podcast from day one as they will be released steadily (in bits and pieces). So, if you don’t see your favorite podcast in there, waiting for few more days would be a wise choice.
